Shalom Aleichem Chevra, so glad you're here with us today! What if fabulous wealth isn't just a material blessing — but the actual key that unlocks the deepest levels of Torah that Mashiach is going to reveal? In this shiur we dive into one of the most surprising and fascinating ideas in all of Torah: that there are certain pathways of learning — what Rebbe Nachman calls pathways of hisbonenus — that you simply cannot access without extraordinary wealth. We're not just talking about having enough bread so the yeshiva boys can learn, the basic 'im ein kemach, ein Torah' principle. We're talking about a completely different level, the Torah of Atik Kadisha, the Torah of Mashiach, which is going to burst into the world and which requires a depth of meditation and a level of wealth that goes way beyond ordinary comfort. We connect all of this directly to the Lost Princess story, because this shiur is one long perush on that story. We look at two very different types of money that the viceroy receives: the money the king gives him at the beginning for expenses, and then the unlimited money pouch he receives from the giant at the very end of the story, where anytime he reaches in, whatever he needs is there. That second pouch, the bottomless one, is the kind of wealth Rebbe Nachman is pointing at — the kind where you never have to ask 'do we have enough?' and nothing is ever lacking. We also learn a beautiful insight about the word 'kessef' — money — and how it shares a root with desire and longing. When Yaakov met Rachel for the first time and cried, part of what was happening is that Elifaz, the son of Esav, had stripped him of all his money on the road. The Gemara says a poor person is considered as if he is not alive, because without kessef, your inner desires have no way to express themselves in the world. And that's really the deeper secret here — holy wealth isn't about accumulation for its own sake. It's about having the capacity to fully crystallize and express your deepest spiritual vision into the world, which is exactly what the end of the story, the mountain of gold and the palace of pearls, is pointing toward.
