Shalom Aleichem Chevra, If the first light of creation was so good, why did Hashem hide it away, and where is it hidden today? We go back to the beginning of Bereishis with Rashi, who tells us the opening verse is not about sequence, because water already came before the heavens. It is all about getting to the light. We look at the four expressions of darkness in the verse as hints to the four exiles, and we spend time on the Greek exile as darkness cloaked in light, including why translating the Torah into Greek was a dark day and why the dreidel is a meditative tool. We learn that darkness is concealment, not absence: the room is dark, but the smoothie is still on the table. Then we come to Rashi's deeper reading of why Hashem separated the light. It was so powerful that if wicked people got hold of it, they could do terrible things with it, so Hashem hid it for the righteous in the Torah. That is why we learn Torah and refine our character together.
