Hey friends! What's up Chevra?! Ever feel trapped in a pit of despair, surrounded by thorns and wild beasts, not knowing which way to turn? In this powerful shiur, we dive deep into Rebbe Nachman's teaching about escaping the pit of despair through a three-pronged approach to finding our way in this world. We explore the incredible metaphor of being lost in darkness, afraid of thorns and wild beasts, until we discover the torch of the tzaddik and the daybreak of charity. Rav Moshe Chaim breaks down the entire framework from the four elements (domem, tzomeach, chai, medaber) to the four negative traits (afar depression, thorns/kitzin, wild beasts/chayot ra'ot, and pirates/listim) and their corresponding fixes. We learn how connecting to a true tzaddik is like a baby seeing their mother's face, instantly healing depression and making all the narishkeit disappear. The second fix is tzedakah - giving charity specifically to the projects of authentic tzaddikim. When we give money (which feels so much like part of ourselves) to a tzaddik, we become included in their soul, protected from the spiritual dangers that plague us. The Gemara teaches that some people would rather give their lives than their money, which is why we need this specific tikun. We cover the whole chart from mineral to human, from black bile to the crossroads of being lost, and discover that charity is literally the daybreak that chases away the spiritual pirates and wild animals from our lives.
