Shalom Aleichem Chevra, so glad you're here! What if loving God isn't just a private feeling on a mountaintop — but actually the engine behind everything we do to bring the world closer to Hashem? In this shiur we dive into something that completely reframes how we think about leadership and outreach. We're looking at the third mitzvah in the Rambam's Sefer HaMitzvot — the mitzvah of loving God — and asking a real question: what does loving God actually have to do with going out and inspiring people? Turns out, everything. The Rambam lays it out step by step. First we meditate on the way Hashem runs the world, on His mitzvot, on the structure He built into creation. That meditation brings us to a deeper and deeper pleasure — a real relationship. And just like you truly get to know a person not just from how they look but from how they think and what they value, we get to know Hashem through His Torah. The Shema itself points to this: "And these words shall be upon your heart" — love is built through learning. Then the Rambam drops something that changes the whole picture. He says that if you truly love Hashem, that love will naturally burst forth and push you to share Hashem with the world — with all of humanity, the briot. His proof? Avraham Avinu. Avraham wasn't doing kiruv as a program. He went into Hashem, fell in love, and then couldn't help but bring people back to emunah. Whether it was through opening his tent, feeding guests, or starting the conversation with "don't thank me, thank the One who created it" — his outreach flowed straight from his love. Isaiah 41 even calls him "the one who loves Me." That was his whole identity. Rav Noach Weinberg, zichrono livracha, embodied this same principle. His entire life of building Aish HaTorah and fighting for Klal Yisrael came out of that burning love for Hashem. We talk about what it looks like to meet people where they are — like the Turkey Prince story we covered earlier in this series — and how creating a vessel, building a real relationship first, is how the light gets in. The Chevra, this is the blueprint: love God deeply, and let that love do what it naturally does.
