What if the nations of the world didn't just stop fighting Jerusalem — but actually lined up to help build the Third Temple?
In this shiur we're diving deep into Isaiah 60, continuing our journey through some of the most breathtaking prophecies in all of Tanach. We're looking at the verses that describe how the wealth of the entire world — the gold of Sheba, the great forests of Lebanon, the treasures of distant islands — will come streaming back to Jerusalem. But more than the physical gifts, we talk about how the nations will bring their praises of Hashem. That's the real gift. The Maral helps us understand why the Jewish people returning to Jerusalem are compared to clouds and birds — swift, unencumbered, flowing freely with zero barriers in the messianic return.
We spend time on some really beautiful details in these verses. The sons of foreigners will want to build the walls of Jerusalem — not because anyone asked them, but because it will be their greatest honor. The gates of Jerusalem will be open day and night because there are no more bad guys. Kings of the world will come under escort, some because they're unfamiliar with the Temple courtyard, and others as part of their own process of teshuva for what was done to the Jewish people over the millennia. We also revisit the Gemara in Gittin about Titus and the idea that those who rose to power by making problems for the Jewish mission will experience the greater the rise, the harder the fall.
We also get into the question of conversion in the times of Moshiach — why there won't be converts then, and why that's actually a beautiful thing. We talk about the Seven Noahide laws, the incredible 7613 Noahide movement, and the upcoming Noahide conference right here in Jerusalem. It's not about everyone becoming Jewish. It's about all of humanity — team humanity — unified in bringing God consciousness into the world. And we close on the glory of the Levanon, the great trees that will be brought with joy to help build the Beit Hamikdash, and the incredible vision of King David himself rising to sit with us and lead us in song.
