Israel Belongs to the Jews! Here’s the Proof!

Hey friends! What's up Chevra?! Why does the Torah begin with creation instead of the first mitzvah, and what does that have to do with our claim to the Land of Israel? We start with Rashi's famous question on the first verse of the Torah: if the Torah is a guide book for life, why not begin with the first mitzvah, sanctifying the new moon? Rashi answers with Psalm 111, where King David says God told His people the power of His actions in order to give them the land of the other nations. So when the world says we took the land unjustly from the seven Canaanite nations, our answer is simple: God created everything, so He decides who receives the land. Then we ask why the Torah goes through the ten generations from Adam to Noach, the ten from Noach to Avraham, and then Yitzchak, Yaakov and the tribes. We learn from the Rosh Yeshiva that the world will recognize our place in the land when we live up to the stature of the Avos. We also talk about how hiding our Jewishness is the wrong path, and we remember the peace of King Solomon's time.
