Shalom Aleichem Chevra, welcome back to the Lost Princess series!
Did you know that the music sitting in your Spotify playlist might actually be shaping the voices inside your head?
In this episode we dive deep into one of the most powerful and personal topics in the whole Lost Princess story — music. The Sheine Lamalchus finally makes it into the palace of the no-good-one, and what does he find there? Music playing, gishmaka food on the table, and a scene that looks and feels completely pleasant. Rebbe Nachman is pointing at something we all live with every single day.
We unpack the Kabbalistic teaching that music flows from the world of Malchus — influence — and that means whoever is playing is literally pouring themselves into you. Holy music, like King David playing his harp to pull Shaul Hamelech out of the darkest depression imaginable, can lift a person from the lowest places to the greatest light. And the flip side, as the Alikes makes clear, is equally true: unholy music can quietly pull someone from a place of holiness into real confusion and darkness. That Biggie Smalls voice in your head during a shiur? We talk about that too.
We also spend time with the deeper Ramchal teaching that a person has to have rachmunus on his own body. The soul's job is not to abandon the body — it's to educate it, train it like a rider trains a horse, so that even when the mind is somewhere else, the body still knows its master and keeps moving in the right direction. That's the whole practice we started yesterday with putting down the fork mid-bite and fighting the snooze button.
By the end of the shiur the Sheine Lamalchus has seen the princess, but he can't just grab her and run — and next time we're going to hear what the princess herself tells him he needs to do to free her. Because in Breslov they say the princess is your soul, and your soul is always trying to tell you exactly how to bring her home.
If this shiur hit home for you, share it with the Chevra and subscribe so you never miss an episode.
